Do you ever wonder other moms secrets? Like actual real beautiful day to day hard working moms? So often I see a darling one at the park and think wow, she looks so great! I wonder what she is doing so well. With that in mind I thought I’d begin a new series on ALFS – Everyday Moms. These are moms I know, moms that have been recommended to me, moms that inspire and are beautiful inside and out. Let’s peak into their lives just a bit, shall we?
Meet Roberta!
Location: North Barrington, IL (right next door to me!)
Job: Aspiring tennis pro
Kids: Bowie (8), Blaise (4), and Nico (3)
You’re in your closet – what do you reach for first? Tennis skirt (after underwear)
Hands down the one beauty product you can’t live without. Only one! Dental floss
Your daily moisturizer. Are you happy with it? Alba botanics, yes.
Your nightly moisturizer. Are you happy with it? I use the same moisturizer, night and day.
Something in your shopping cart online right now that you want to buy – budget is no limit. The biggish ticket item that I am pinning for is braces. I had them as a kid, but need them again. I can’t seem to pull the trigger because of the expense and I’m not fully prepared to sport a grill of metal. I’m not a candidate for invisaline.
How do you feel your beauty routine changed when you became a mom? I worked as a lawyer until days before I had my first son. While my beauty routine, in terms of makeup, has changed only slightly — I’ve never worn more than mascara, powder and lip gloss most days — my wardrobe has changed greatly. I love having the flexibly to wear workout clothes or jeans now that I am a stay-at-home mom. No more suits for me. My long curly hair is pulled up in a high pony tail or bun everyday. Using the blow dryer to straighten my hair is a hassle that I have no time for anymore.
Biggest indulgence you allow yourself. Private tennis lessons
Tell us about your kid(s). Bowie, 8, is a sportster and a fisherman. He is a self-confident and independent first child. Blaise, 4, is super smart and curious. He’s a goofball who challenges limits. Nico, 3, just wants to do whatever his older brothers are doing. He can play as hard as the older boys, but he still loves cuddling. All three of them wake up at 6am ready to tear my house apart, and accomplish just that most days. I’ve heard they are really well-behaved when I’m not around, but they can push me to tears and exhaustion at least once a week.
What is your biggest struggle as a mom day to day. Getting my middle son to put on shoes. (As her next door neighbor and partner in daily preschool car pool, I can attest that this is more definitely, true).
What is your biggest happiness as a mom day to day. Having three crazy boys to walk through life with my husband and me.
Snap your fingers – you could have a magic fairy help you with one thing around the home every day. What is it? Clean up my kitchen after dinner, longest part of the day.
Because you are oh so pretty, tell us about your favorite feature? I’ve always loved my legs.
Ok that photo – dying. And yes, your legs are perfection and I will also add that I have a girl crush on your hair. Thank you Roberta, so much, for sharing your time and darling family with us. As you’ve said to me, I love doing life with you and I’m oh so thankful we ended up next door!
