Ah, it feels good to be in March doesn’t it? We’ll get some warmer days (mixed in with some not warmer days, of course) but the best thing about March is the time change. Everything feels better when it’s still light out past 6PM – yippee! Here’s what else is making me happy in my monthly crush post. I so hope you enjoy.

  1. I love these gold letters from RH teen. I have them in my closet and am eyeing them for the wine room for our basement. Thinking a cheery CHEERS is in order!
  2. The end to your boyfriend jean struggles. They are loose, but not saggy. Perfectly distressed and fun to roll up and oh so easy to wear. You’re welcome.
  3. I am dying, dying over this new brand, Allegra and Luca. Basically all you will see me in this summer. You’ve been warned.
  4. My birks were in dire need of an update. Love the slimmer look to these.
  5. So dainty and pretty, this sea glass necklace belongs in your spring break suitcase.
  6. My motto: tulips weekly until spring. Trader Joes last a good 6 days and are at such a great price!
  7. I think I have a swimsuit problem. I have more than I need but I just can’t with this one. So cute, right?
  8. Omg, these Rifle chairs from Anthro. Mike doesn’t know it yet but they will so be apart of our basement in some way.

February Crushes

One of my favorite posts of the month to write, here is what caught my eye this February. A touch of Valentines for sure, because it is right around the corner. Enjoy! xoxo.

  1. When it boils down to it, this really is the best candle you can light. With my kitchen and great room area being larger now, I find sometimes a candles scent can get lost. Not this one! It fills up the whole first floor with it’s deliciously yummy scent. Love it!
  2. We can’t keep these around the home for more than a day or two. Super sweet and super cute, Trader Joes nailed these mini heart cookies.
  3. Drooling. I recently fell in love with the Cuyana line and have been eyeing their dreamy bags ever since. The buttery leathers look to die for and the best part? You can monogram your initials in gold. Love. (And the price isn’t too scary!)
  4. Oh this is a shoe to lust after. How cute would it look with rolled up boyfriend dreams? Now we just need the temps to warm up a bit.
  5. I’m still on a major ginger kick, and recently recalled the heavenly scent Ginger Souffle by Origins that I used back in high school. Why did I ever stop? Not quite sure.
  6. I was (dangerously) in Williams Sonoma recently for a return and these darling heart coffee mugs caught my eye. Bonus that they help Human Rights Campaign. 
  7. This book is so on my ‘to read’ list. 
  8. Bought this sweatshirt on sale from Old Navy and have been wearing it almost nightly with pj pants. So comfy and the little red hearts are just plain fun.

January Crushes

alfs_crushes_january_opt-2-01Ok, s dreary as January can be, there is always something to smile about. Right? Maybe? My monthly crush posts are for just that. Here is what is currently making us happy around the home. Hoping for a little sunshine to add to the list. 

  1. Ginger ginger ginger, I am all about this scent in the winter. It’s so uplifting and energizing which is oh so needed when there are extensive amounts of time without the sun. Target nailed this hand soap!
  2. And yes, more ginger. I fell in love with Candlefish candles when my local Anthropologie store started carrying them. They are oh so beautiful and the smells are so unique. #30 is my favorite, which combines ginger, along with bergamot and lemon. It’s pure heaven. 
  3. What’s not to smile about a gold confetti coffee cup?
  4. Oh winter skin, you fickle thing. My current nightly skin care routine? Wash face with this. Moisturize with this. Then, before bed, I layer Argan oil on top and my skin wakes up soft as a baby’s bottom.
  5. I was gifted this blanket by my sister in law for Christmas and I have, no joke, been carrying it around the house like a toddler with her blankie. I am obsessed. If you have a birthday or something special coming up I highly recommend adding to your list. (Pssst – also comes in a blushy pink, swoon!)
  6. Ok, is there a cuter way to keep away the germs? I think not. Love these gummy bear hand sanitizers by Skinfood, bonus that they come in awesome flavors like pineapple and raspberry.
  7. Read this book in Florida and totally loved it if you’re looking for something to cozy up with.
  8. Ah yes, my motto for January. And February. And kind of sort of March.

October crushes

All right. With so much love around the seasonal crush posts I thought it would be fun to switch it to monthly. Lord know I have enough items each month I’m totally digging, why not share them?  Without further ado I give you my October crushes, aside from the most obvious one, of course….

  1. Who doesn’t have a crush on the Cubs right now? It’s October and still baseball season! Heck. Yeah. Grab your box of Rizzo’s and cuddle up to watch and hey, don’t throw out the box. I told my friend I did and she looked at me like I was certifiable insane. I’m sorry, I don’t keep trash….?
  2. Ok I know there are literally a million version of these booties dancing around in stores but I have bought these. Worn these, many times. Perhaps danced on kitchen counters in these. And I still pick them day after day after day. So unbelievable comfortable and appropriate for anywhere you are going and they’ve held up beautifully. Huge bonus they are a killer price.
  3. I’ve never gone gray on the nails because, well, I rarely get my nails done but if I did a solid fall color called ‘the gray‘ seems an appropriate place to start.
  4. It’s October! Time to bust out the spooky wine. Bogle’s Phantom is always a sure fire hit this time of year. BOO!
  5. The boys have so been digging pasta lately. I can’t wait to switch our normal noodles for some festive Halloween ones to make them smile.
  6. This recipe. Make it in October. Promise me?
  7. For some reason in the night cream department I’m a ‘grass is always greener’ type gal. I try, and try, and try. And I always go back to this one. Hands down the absolute best one for the absolute best price and the absolute best results. Plus your face smells great. 
  8. A mascara named ‘better than sex.’ Clever, oh so clever. I’m not going to comment, much, but I am going to say that I flipping love. this. mascara. A new staple around here, this was gifted to me on my 35th birthday.
  9. Again, anyway to make lounge gear less ‘loungier’ I am in since it’s reaching the months where it’s a struggle to put on fancy pants…..aka, jeans. Love this cozy soft sweatshirt with business in front, party in the back.

Fall crushes

Heck YEAH. The most wonderful season of Fall is here. And while I was so anti, for awhile, the change in temperatures and the tip tops of the trees turning golden have shifted things a bit. Who am I not to embrace it all? I’m a seasonal gal at heart and nothing makes my heart beat faster than some slick leather boots and a brand new pair of jeans. Love writing these crush posts so much, so without further ado here is what I am coveting this fall.

  1. This print needs to be apart of my home. It basically sums up what I love most in the world: food + my boys.
  2. Ok. Let me just put this out there: most fall candles make me want to gag. I’m just not into the whole sugary, sweet, pumpkiny thing that occurs. Give me a more rustic campfire scent, with perhaps, a bit of cinnamon sprinkled on top. That’s exactly what this candle it. Hands down my fav.
  3. It can’t be fall without a new scarf addition! Keeping it festive and cozy with this flannel plaid print and keeping it cost effective with Old Navy. Score.
  4. I recently decided I needed a new scent in my life. I had the same sad never used perfumes sitting on my dresser. And while I’m not exactly a perfumey gal I felt, at 35, perhaps I should try again with it all. After countless samples and a lot of smelling at Sephora I walked out of there with this clean reserve scent. Ok. This isn’t your normal walk in the room and make heads turn perfume. It’s understated. It’s earthy. It’s woody. It’s sort of the gal you expect to find barefoot in her yard pitching baseballs to her boys but in a super cute outfit, obviously. It’s exactly the smell I want to be, if any of that makes sense. Obsessed.
  5. Fall without a new pair of jeans is just a crime. Love that these feel like a designer pair but with a more appropriate price. Tall girls, these go allllll the way down. You know what I mean. Typically you have to pick if you want your waist appropriately covered or your ankles. I feel you. But these jeans fit and stretch and cover all your parts like magic. Promise.
  6. Never leaned towards Alex and Ani for anything but my (favorite!) bracelets but I have a total crush on this boho stone necklace.
  7. Did you hear? Plaid is SO IN this fall! Love the spin on this shirt from Athleta: it’s called lumberjill. Cute cute cute.
  8. Oh my heart. What is it about boots? I would own 100 pairs if I could. These Madewell boots are totally justifyable though, perfect for preschool pick up and a date night out.
  9. And last but not least. Anyway to make yoga pants sexier and I am on board considering it’s pretty much all I wear going forward in the chillier months. These cut outs are spot on. Helloooooo calves.
