I’m just going to throw this one out there: I’m not really an appetizer gal.
I mean, I love to eat them. Obviously. But I don’t really want to have to think about them. When I entertain, it’s generally the first thing I out source, and then I gladly take on the main meal and dessert responsibilities. Luckily I have some friends that are killer at appetizers so it all balances out quite well.
I guess with so much effort being put into the main meal I just don’t really want to think about making yet another recipe for beforehand. And that’s exactly where this easiest appetizer ever comes into play. You don’t have to think.
At all.
I promise.
See, I’ve come to find over countless years of entertaining that even if you outsource your apps there are times when they aren’t on time and you may have a guest or two already ready to party. Or, let’s be honest, you may just be standing there hungry. Either or. So even though I’m not an app girl per se, I knew I needed to come up with a trick up my sleeve. Something easy, recipe free, and well, pretty, to set out for anyone that may need a bite before the real deal shows up.
This prosciutto mozzarella platter is that trick my friends. I can’t tell you how many times I shared a little photo of it on my Instagram story and I get the comments ‘oh! Please share the recipe!’
Well, there really isn’t one. So we are just going to walk it through on here together. I hope that is OK.
First, you get some meat. Anything can work here – salami, pepperoni, but I tend to lean prosciutto. You can be all fancy and have it sliced at the deli or you can just lazily grab a pack already all sliced up. I do this. Last time I got a peppered one and it was out of this world.
Next up grab some fresh mozzarella. It can be balls or one big hunk or sliced anything works. Then you just rip it up and place on the platter. Everyone still with me?
Now, to garnish. That would be with freshly chopped basil (yum) and a balsamic glaze (also yum). No I do not make the glaze. Who do you think I am. 😉
All that’s left is to sprinkle with some flaky sea salt and pile some crackers in a bowl next to it and you’re on your way to one great party.
Speaking of party, happy Friday everyone!

What a great idea, Courtney. I am going to borrow it for our next get-together, maybe also throw in a few olives.
I don’t mind preparing an appetizer generally but I don’t want people to get stuffed with that and have no room for the main meal. I hate when they say they “don’t have room” for something you’ve cooked all day 🙂
