Hi, I’m C!
Thank you so much for stumbling upon my little blog. I am oh so happy you are here!
Is there anything more awkward than writing your own ‘about me’ page? I think not.
Where to begin. Well first off all, I started this space six years ago. I was pregnant with my second baby and still working part time. Eventually I became a full time stay at home mom and would blog from time to time as a way to share recipes with family and friends. The name came to me instantly. Our family was ready for a new start, a fresh start, and I wanted to be sure it was authentic and ‘from scratch’ as possible. As my boys grew, year by year, I was able to devote more and more time to this space and grow it into what it’s become. I am still completely baffled that anyone aside from my own mother reads it.
Currently I have a fifth grader (Logan, 11) and a Kindergartner (Beckett, 5) who are rocking (FULL DAY!) school. Yeah baby. I am for sure in that sweet spot of mothering, and am savoring every moment.
Let’s see, what else. We live in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago in the town my husband and I grew up in. Grandparents are all minutes away and enjoy attending the boys baseball games. (All seventy of them. Hold me close and rock me hard). We have planted our roots deep and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I love this space for the creative outlet it gives me for cooking recipes, doing my best to take beautiful photographs, organizing and decorating my home, and just having fun in general. I do not take things too seriously, at all. For those who know me in ‘real life’ I am a pretty introverted and quite private person. This space gives me the opportunity and confidence to open up and show snippets of my life that others, hopefully, may find relatable.
What else. You can constantly find me saying ‘y’all’ on Instagram even though I am not from the South, by any means. I don’t know what I say it and I’ve actually tried to stop but it just comes out. I could not live without chapstick, my planner, and RX bars. I often get asked what is my favorite recipe to make and it’s probably this one because it feels like real, slow, Sunday cooking. And it feeds a crowd, which I so heart to do.
Or this soup. I really really love making soup.
I also love summer. I’ve been told I’m much better in the summer. But aren’t we all?
Dwight from The Office is pretty much my all time favorite TV character and if you don’t think he’s funny I just don’t think it’s going to work out between us. Oh and if you need a great striped tee this is by far the best one on the market. I own more than I care to admit. And of course, 90’s gangster rap for life. Unedited.
I could go on and on but instead I will leave you with a great weeknight recipe because I know the struggle that is dinnertime. I see you all trying, and I’m totally hooked. Let’s keep cooking, together.
