A valid question, right? A question that was attempted to be answered decades ago when my grandma found a slip of paper that tried to sum up all a mother entails. She kept that slip of paper with her until she was 93 years old when at our Mother’s Day brunch she read it out loud and then passed it on to me. I’ve kept it close by ever since – in the kitchen of course. And I read it often.

Some how it’s comforting to me to know that moms decades ago had the same likes and dislikes that come up today. Of course a few things have changed over time (it’s not hard to read a thermometer anymore!) but the general gist is there. And that general gist is comforting.

So cheers to new moms, to wise moms, to hurt moms, to silly moms, to OCD moms, to mean moms, to working moms, to sick moms, to rockstar moms, to late moms, to fashionista moms, to worried moms, to creative moms, to stressed moms, to moms to be, and to supportive moms. We’ve all been all at some point, right? Here’s to thinking about walking in each others shoes a little bit more and focusing on our own pair a little less.
