Do you ever wonder other moms secrets? Like actual real beautiful day to day hard working moms? So often I see a darling one at the park and think wow, she looks so great! I wonder what she is doing so well. With that in mind I thought I’d begin a new series on ALFS – Everyday Moms. These are moms I know, moms that have been recommended to me, moms that inspire and are beautiful inside and out. Let’s peak into their lives just a bit, shall we?
Meet Jenny!
Location: Lake Geneva, WI
Job: Stay at home mom
Kids: Colston (almost 4), Harter (just turned 4 months)
You’re in your closet – what do you reach for first? Gah, a nursing tank top! Probably for the next 9 months or so…
Hands down the one beauty product you can’t live without. Only one! I love, love, love my Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder, color Telluride. It helps keep up a sunny appearance even in the dead of midwestern winters.
Your daily moisturizer. Are you happy with it? Neutrogena Sensitive Skin, same product I’ve been using for nearly 20 years. So I guess, yes, I’m happy with it.
Your nightly moisturizer. Are you happy with it? Ah …. should I be using a nightly moisturizer?
Something in your shopping cart online right now that you want to buy – budget is no limit. This is not in my shopping cart, I’m actually still looking for some sort of wrap – super soft, comfy, no buttons, no zipper to wear around over my nursing tank tops to keep me warm. Maybe some ALFS readers can help me out? Help, what do you new mamas recommend?
How do you feel your beauty routine changed when you became a mom? Fast, fast, fast. My make routine has pretty much been paired down to mascara and bronzer.
Biggest indulgence you allow yourself? I have a nanny one day a week. She’s been with out family since my daughter was 3 months old, so she started when I went back to work. Now that I’m a full time stay at home mom, having 5 hours to run errands by myself every week feels pretty indulgent.
Tell us about your kid(s). Colston is my head strong, confident, outgoing little lady. She’s the first to try something new and often the last one to leave an activity. She loves sports and princesses equally and tries my patience daily with things like refusing to brush her hair or put on a jacket. Harter, our newborn who was born on October 11th, will be forever known as the Cubs good luck charm (at least to our family). He’s a sweet happy baby that only has eyes for his big sister!
What is your biggest struggle as a mom day to day? I struggle daily with being able to give enough of myself to our new baby and his big sister. Along with getting laundry and dinner done and the house picked up. I just have to keep reminding myself that I can’t be perfect right now.
What is your biggest happiness as a mom day to day? Smiles from my baby boy and hugs and kisses from our daughter. Makes it all worth it!
Snap your fingers – you could have a magic fairy help you with one thing around the home every day. What is it? Oh wow, wouldn’t that be nice. Depends on the day….someone to get a delicious dinner on the table? Or maybe a magic fairy that would do my daughters hair every morning before school!
Because you are oh so pretty, tell us about your favorite feature! My curly hair. I fought it and straightened it for years. Recently I’ve really come to embrace my curls and it takes WAY less time!
Lovely, Jenny! I am so happy to have your darling family in our lives. It’s been so great to see you guys grow with Colston and now the Cubs charmer, Harter. And yes, your hair is perfection. You’ll have to teach me how to tame the wild curls!
