I’m Courtney’s sister-in-law, Carolyn, guest posting for What We Wore Wednesday while C is in Florida. Bring back some sunshine C, and thanks for having me on my favorite blog! XO
Sometimes getting dressed for the usual workday, anxiously anticipated happy hour, or fancy schmancy event needs a cherry on top! The cherry being my fave way to accessorize: the Bracelet Stack.
Stacking is ideal when you’re in a time crunch to jazz up your “uniform.” I don’t think about what I’m going to wear to work – other than if I can sit criss-cross applesauce on the rug and that I don’t care if I get Sharpie on it when checking papers (if you guessed I’m a 2nd grade teacher, you’re right).
Stacks are also great for your “go-to” outfits for happy hour and weeknight dinners with the girls, which for me = JCrew Minnies + silk blouse + patterned scarf avec booties. Who’s with me?
A stack of bracelets is the best way to shake up your “go-to” get-up. Then we have party time! Love a jewel colored silk number or LBD that you can change up and wear for more than one wedding, gala, or bestie’s b-day party. The perf way to accessorize and make it look like a totally new dress is the arm candy.
Here is what I wore: Lincoln Park After Dark, GNO, Teacher Time, & Sunny Saturday in the Chi (Top Left, Clockwise):
Rules of Bracelet Stacking
-High End & Low End: When they’re mixed together you can’t tell how much they cost – if they’re plastic or sterling silver, Cartier or Francesca’s.
-Pop of Color: This accent can match your outfit or even better can be totally opposite on the color wheel. Or the only trace of color if you’re in all black (or all white – when will we be able to wear white jeans again?).
-Metal Mixin’: Silver, gold, rose gold… oh my! This took me out of my comfort zone, SO happy I no longer feel the need to match all silver earrings, bracelets, watch, ring. #boring
-Staples with Stories: You see a lot of repetition… No need to buy new ones. People always ask and it’s better when you have a fun tale to tell (or that is was on sale for 6 bucks at JCrew), so stick with your staples. – oldies but goodies.
